Biography

Dr. Breazeale is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He earned a bachelor of arts in chemistry in 1989 from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and a medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Memphis in 1994. He was recipient of UT Alumni Association scholarships throughout his undergraduate and medical school years.

He returned to Chattanooga to serve a one-year internship at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga Unit, before moving to Eastern Virginia Medical School for a three-year residency. He held a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha.

He joined Retina Consults of Chattanooga after finishing his postgraduate work, and then moved his practice to Southeastern Retina Associates in 2004.

Dr. Breazeale is an assistant professor at the UT College of Medicine, Chattanooga unit. His contribution to the education of the next generation of ophthalmologists is significant. Since 2000, he has trained twelve fellows and graduate students and served on the residency review committee for the UT College of Medicine, Chattanooga Unit.

He chaired the Medical Quality Improvement Committee from 2002 to 2004 and served on the Operating Room Committee of Chattanooga’s Miller Eye Center from 2001 to 2004. Dr. Breazeale has served as chief of ophthalmology at Erlanger Medical Center from 2002 to 2004. Dr. Breazeale serves on the Board of Directors of the Chattanooga Ophthalmology Foundation.
